Gray Caws Retreat Leader

Gray is a master ChiRunning and Oxygen Advantage Coach and Teacher Trainer based in the UK. He is also a specialist Personal Trainer and Buteyko Practitioner. He brings his practice and teaching skills learned over the years to organsing, leading and coaching worldwide retreats. He believes that taking time out of the usual everyday routine, exploring different environments, learning new and fine-tuning existing skills, helps us to gain a clearer mental focus and deeper insight into ourselves. And therefore a great way to reset mind and body. Alongside his regular movement practice, Gray enjoys reading, researching and keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in health and fitness. His teaching style is relaxed, encouraging clients to question, experiment and experience.

 

I'm delighted to be running this brand new retreat for 2020 in Portugal. The aim of the retreat is to give you the time and space to reset, re-energise, and refocus your mind and body. The central theme throughout all of my retreats is that of mindful movement. This simply means having an intention and paying attention to how and why you move. And what better way to experience this than in like-minded company and amazing surroundings practicing daily ChiRunning, Tai Chi, qigong, breathwork and meditation.

Hello from Rita, I’m looking forward to welcoming you on our first Tai Chi & Trails Retreat. My family moved to Portugal from England back in 2011. We found Quinta das Latas and were completely blown away by the breathtaking and far reaching views that this Beiras mountain range offers. In the last eight years we have adapted to the quiet mountain life, learnt a new language, renovated this amazing 1911 country manor house, converted a stone barn for our personal accommodation together with the studio, where we run creative workshops and retreats.

We collaborate with talented artists and instructors from all over the world, to bring inspiring and restful holidays for those that want to take time for themselves.

Latas Country House is surrounded by raw beauty. It sits peacefully within the quiet Portuguese countryside, offering tranquillity and seclusion from the outside world, with a more gentle approach to day-to-day living. Here one can truly switch off, retreat, and rest.

Here we grow our own organic veggies, keep chickens, maintain the olive grove and land.  We take long mountain walks with our two dogs Sattva and Asha and in the summer months when temperatures are high, there's nothing more refreshing than taking a picnic down to the local wild river swimming spot for a dip.

We love to cook, to eat, to laugh, enjoy a good glass of wine, and meet new friends. We look forward very much to welcoming you in September!
