She will also address some elements of our lifestyle that can also affect how we feel and our food choices.

“I have always had an an interest in food and cooking and when I was diagnosed with ‘IBS’ in my 20s my interest in food to took me to look at food as medicine. After improving my own condition through dietary changes I went on to get my BSc (Honours) in Nutritional Therapy from the University of Westminster. I have 10 years experience as Registered Nutritional Therapy practitioner, and have seen first-hand how diet and lifestyle changes can make such a positive difference to our health and wellbeing. I am also on the BBC’s panel of nutritionists and have appeared on numerous radio shows.

Now more than ever it is clear that one size does not fit all when it comes to our health, so it’s important to understand your individual balance. The body is amazingly complex and no one part of it works alone, so I aim to bring together my knowledge of nutrition, supplements and functional testing with a detailed understanding of how food works with the body to improve your health. I work using the Functional Medicine model and keep up to date with current research in health and nutrition. I aim to concentrate primarily on diet but I also have a very extensive knowledge of nutritional products and supplements to help support my patients.”

Gut Health & Belly Breathing

Susie will discuss how the aspect of our diet and lifestyle can affect our gut health. She will explore the possible reasons behind gut symptoms such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and the importance of our good and bad gut bacteria (microbiome). She will also discuss ways we can help modulate our microbiome to improve our health.

Gray will then introduce you to a series of practical breathing exercises based on the Buteyko method. You’ll understand the importance of functional breathing and the negative effect that dysfunctional breathing has on our digestive system. 

You’ll get an insight into breathing can reduce stress and help support a healthy diet and promote a healthy lifestyle.
